Recycled Content Standard Annex A: Supplemental Criteria for Electrical and Electronic Equipment

This standard (SCS-103 Annex A) is applicable to electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) products for which manufacturers wish to make verified recycled content claims and have their certified products badged ‘Climate Pledge Friendly’ on the Amazon marketplace. The standard sets a minimum threshold for recycled content in EEE products and certifies that products physically contain or are attributed the specific percentages of recycled content from post-consumer and pre-consumer sources claimed by manufacturers. Additionally, certification supports the industry’s goal of stimulating increased use of recycled materials in products and promoting innovation in material collection and recycling processes to minimize waste to landfills. Entities may quantify the recycled content of their products and/or materials using either a physical segregation chain of custody model or a mass balance chain of custody model; however, the model used must be specified in all recycled content claims, including on-product logos.
